Hyderabad: South Central Railway has taken another step forward in the use of solar power. The first solar power line has been made available between Nandyala and Yarraguntla sections within the zone. Solar power system has been installed for uninterrupted power supply at eight stations under this route. To this extent, GM.Gajanan Mallya revealed that it has been declared as the first solar power section within the South Central Railway zone. In a statement released on Tuesday, the Nandyalayarraguntla section route under Guntakallu division was revealed as an important connecting route to Guntakallurenigunta, Doan and Guntur railway route.

He said that the establishment of this new system will be beneficial for reducing emissions and protecting the environment. It was explained that 37 KW off-grid roof top solar systems with 250,125 watt solar panels have been installed at each station to harness solar power. It is claimed that besides saving Rs.5 lakh every year, emissions will also be reduced by 49 metric tons every year. On this occasion, the GM specially congratulated the officers and employees who worked hard to establish an environment-friendly solar power system within the division.
