Hyderabad: IT and Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao said that the state government is working hard to provide quality higher education to the youth. He commented that there are more employment opportunities in the private sector and the government is focusing on creating employment opportunities in this sector. It is mentioned that we are improving job opportunities by attracting international companies to Hyderabad through TS IPass. He said that investments of 28 thousand billion dollars have come in the state in the last five years, through which around 13 lakh people have been employed. He said that 14 sectors of investment and employment have been identified in the state. They are attracting investment in these sectors and increasing employment opportunities.
Minister KTR attended the four-day ICTIE 2020 Seventh International Conference organized on Monday at Anurag Group of Institutes on changes in engineering education, while Education Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy attended as the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Minister KTR reminded that the government has declared 2020 as the year of Telangana Artificial Intelligence. He said that they have received complaints from industries that students who have completed engineering lack of skills, and their government has set up the Telangana Academy of Skills and Knowledge (Task) organization to improve the skills of students.
He said that in the last 5 years the task has reached 680 colleges, trained 5,070 faculty and 2.9 lakh students in various skill sets. He said that the task will be extended to 3 cities like Warangal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Nalgonda. He asked the Education Institute to come forward to work with the task. He said that like Anurag College, every college should work hard to improve the skills of students and get campus placements.
A strong believer in the 3 I mantra
Minister KTR said that he strongly believes in the three I’s mantra of innovation, infrastructure and inclusive growth. Tihub has been started to promote new innovations, he said. He also said that Vihab has been started. He said that the government will provide necessary encouragement to new innovations. He said that IT and other industries will be brought to Warangal, Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts. He said that the government is committed to provide quality education. He said that when his government came to power, it was recognized that the educational standards in engineering were declining and a committee with experts was appointed to examine the standards.
He said that the colleges which do not comply with the standards have been advised to comply with the standards as per the rules. But the number of colleges has not decreased significantly. He said that a good institute does not mean having big buildings, but having highly qualified teachers. He said that there is a lot of youth in our country. He said that 50 percent of the population is below 27 years of age and 65 percent is below 35 years of age and these youth are going to lead India. He said that there is a need to utilize these human resources properly.
IT must redefine intelligence technology
Minister KTR opined that the time has come to redefine ‘IT’ not as ‘Information Technology’ but as ‘Intelligence Technology’. He commented that Hyderabad is famous for IT services. He said that there is a need to make new courses available according to the changing conditions. He said that educational institutions like Anurag have made subjects like Artificial Intelligence available this year. Subjects like analytics, block chain, robotics, which are currently available, are suggested to be made available and connected with industries. He said that his government is focusing on the electronics manufacturing, emerging technologies, defense and aerospace sectors which provide more employment opportunities.
It is suggested to introduce practice school option as part of our curriculum as in Germany. A practice school program is said to allow the student to practice real-life situations in classrooms. At the same time, he opined that there is a need to identify the needs of the industries and implement the apprenticeship system for six months to a year. He said that by assigning projects to the students according to the requirements of the industries, the skills of the students will improve. KTR commented that JNTUH is considering these new policies seriously and we hope that this policy will be implemented in JNTUH from the next academic year.
Literacy to increase with Each One Teach One: Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy
Education Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy has expressed hope that the literacy rate will increase with the ‘Each One Teach One’ slogan announced by Chief Minister KCR in Telangana state. CM KCR said that Telangana’s aim is to make it a 100% literate state. He said that the target is to increase the literacy rate of Telangana from the current 70 percent to 100 percent in the next few years. He said that besides strengthening higher education, the main objective of the government is to provide lakhs of knowledge to the uneducated. He said that standards are being raised in higher education and technical education from school education. He said that measures are being taken to ensure compliance of standards in accordance with AICTE norms in technical education institutions.
It is stated that the state government has introduced the Private University Act keeping in mind the situation of students going abroad for higher education, so that there are opportunities for many prestigious educational institutions in foreign countries to come to the state. Chairman of Anurag Group of Institutions, Chairman of Rythu Gadho Samiti Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said that the teaching profession is facing many challenges with the technology that is available at present. He said that great teachers influence students a lot. Saint Chairman BVR Mohan Reddy, Anurag Group of Institutions Secretary Neelima and others participated in this program. ICTIE-2020 souvenir was unveiled by Minister KTR on this occasion.
