Fastag problems

Screaming scanners.. Heavy traffic at toll plazas
This is the Pantangi tollgate.. and there is a traffic jam for kilometers at the Keesara toll plazas.
What is the benefit of Fastag? Motorists’ lip service

Hyderabad: As Sankranthi approaches.. Patna residents are queuing up in the village.. RTC, private buses and drivers traveling from Telangana to AP in their own vehicles are facing various problems at the toll plazas. It must be said that the newly implemented FASTAG system at the toll plazas is dashing their hopes even if they want to reach their villages before the two days of the approaching festival.

Heavy traffic at Pantangi and Keesara toll plazas

Recently there was a heavy traffic jam at Pantangi toll gate of Chautuppal mandal of Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district. 8 toll booths have been opened at Korlapadu tollgate in Nalgonda district for those going towards Vijayawada. However, the scanners at the tollbooths were not working properly, and again there was a need to collect money and send the vehicles according to the old rates. The situation is similar in 17 toll plazas across Telangana. At Nandigama in Krishna district, all the roads became congested. Vehicular traffic has increased at the toll plazas on Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway No. 65. Additional counters were arranged at Keesara toll plaza as the vehicles lined up. Drivers are not yet aware of FASTAG. In view of the situation, special FASTag counters have been set up at the respective toll plazas. The vehicle drivers are taking FASTags through the respective counters.

Scanners are barking..

All motorists feel that the FASTAG system is useful for crossing the respective toll plazas in a matter of seconds. But in contrast to that, the scanners are shouting about the implementation of the FASTAG system at the toll plazas. They are arguing with the officials there. While the scanners are barking at many toll plazas on these routes, the toll plaza managers are once again collecting toll fees in the old fashioned way.

Due to this, the traffic is completely blocked in those areas. In this order, people are angry about the chaotic procedures being taken by the authorities at the toll plazas. In view of the holiday given to the students, they are preparing to travel from Patnam to the countryside for the Sankranti festival. For those who thought that there would be no problems if they went earlier, FASTAG appears to be in trouble. On the other hand, it is noteworthy that JBS, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station and Uppal Bus Stop in Hyderabad are crowded with passengers.

Heavy traffic jam at Pantangi tollgate

The Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway No. 65 became extremely crowded on Saturday with Sankranthi-bound vehicles. With only two days left for the festival, the government announced holidays for schools and colleges, so the people of the town went to their homes with their children to go out for the festival. As a result, the road has become congested. Thousands of vehicles traveling from Hyderabad to distant areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh hit the road at once, causing heavy traffic on the national highway. Due to this, there was a heavy traffic jam at Pantangi tollgate in Chautuppal mandal.

A large number of vehicles were stopped at a distance of about 2 km from the tollgate. Even though there are many fast tag counters, the traffic problem is inevitable. At one stage, one or two past tag counters barked and the traffic lanes had to be diverted until the situation was rectified. There was a lot of traffic noise in the morning and evening. GMR staff are always taking appropriate measures at Pantangi tollgate to avoid inconvenience to motorists and passengers. However, motorists say that due to the implementation of fast tag system, the traffic problems have been reduced to some extent than before.
