Hyderabad: State Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said that our country’s democracy and electoral system is the best in the world despite the power of money and muscle in elections. Other countries need to learn. He said that the voting percentage should increase in the towns. On Saturday under the auspices of the State Election Commission, the Save Democracy Award program was held for the first time to the officers and staff who showed the best performance in the last Panchayat Raj local body elections. Speaking on this occasion, Tamilisai said that the percentage of voting is higher in rural constituencies than in towns where there are more educated people. He said that in South Chennai constituency, where he was a voter in the past, there are more educated people, but the voter turnout did not exceed 49 percent.

He reminded that 80 to 90 percent voting would take place in the remaining rural constituencies. He said that the conduct of the election is a very complex responsibility and most of the genuine voters turn up when the polling closes at 5 pm. He said that the staff will conduct the election smoothly amid many problems. He said that the police have to perform their duties without sleep for days. She congratulated the State Election Commission for recognizing such people and awarding them. Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that political parties talk one way when they lose and another when they win. He said that no matter what is happening on the outside, their hearts will know that the election officials have conducted it well.

State Election Commission Commissioner V. Nagireddy said that the ruling party has important duties such as enforcing the election law, code of conduct, monitoring the election expenditure limit and providing tender voting opportunity to all the eligible parties without using the facilities at will. He praised the officers and staff for conducting the election transparently and properly despite all the difficulties. He said that the ratio of urban voters and rural voters in the state is close to 50 and 50.

He said that according to the decision taken by the Standing Council of the Commissioners of Election Commissions of the respective states, Maharashtra was the first to award the awards and Telangana was the second state. State Government Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP M. Mahender Reddy, Panchayat Raj Department Principal Secretary Vikas Raj, State Election Commission Standing Council Chairman A. K. Chauhan, Convener S. K. Srivastava, Election Commissioners from various states, State Election Commission were present in this program. Secretary Ashok Kumar participated.
