Hyderabad: The State Election Commission has announced that more than 967 nominations have been filed on the first day of municipal elections. Reception of nominations started at 10.30 am, candidates submitted nomination papers. Nominations are accepted till 5 pm. Nominations are being accepted for wards and divisions in 9 corporations and 120 municipalities across the state. According to the information gathered from the districts till 9 pm, the SEC released the details to the media. If we look at the district-wise nominations, 117 nominations have been filed for urban local bodies (ULBs) in Nalgonda district, followed by 94 nominations for ULBs in Peddapalli district, 85 for ULBs in Sangareddy, and 71 for ULBs in Jagityala district.
The ULBs of Bhadradri Kothagudem and Jangam districts received the least nominations of two each. After that, there were four nominations each in Jayashankar and Komuram Bhim districts. There are 57 nominations for ULBs in Rangareddy district, 47 in Rajanna Sirisilla district, 38 in Medak, 32 in Manchiryal, 27 in Nirmal, 23 in Siddipet, 43 in Suryapet, 07 in Kamareddy, 18 in Adilabad, 10 in Gadwal, 17 in Narayanpet, 10 in Mahbubnagar. 25 in Mahbubabad, 06 in Khammam, Nagarkurnool district ULBs got 19 nominations. Not a single nomination has been filed for Dabirpura division under GHMC where the by-election is taking place. Last date for nominations is 10th of this month. Officials say that as the same day falls on Friday, there will be a huge number of nominations.
